"I have chosen People and Places because I want to be 100% sure that I'm matched with a placement I'm actually qualified for, and that I will be genuinely helpful to the community I'm placed in. I have always been hesitant about volunteering abroad, in Canada it's very trendy for youth to do, and I think it's often done very unethically. That being said, I think there are ways to do it properly and People and Places is the organization I am most comfortable with after doing some research. I did apply previously many years ago, but decided I wasn't ready for the experience. I feel much more qualified now and feel I have significant skills to share."
