a volunteer warns against trying to do too much
As this was my first experience of volunteering abroad, there certainly seemed to lots to think about and do prior to my departure.
Initially I had intended to follow my volunteering stay with a sight seeing, touring holiday, where I would be joined by my partner. Trying to arrange this ...I was worried that the 'volunteering' part wouldn't happen as it was getting too complicated.
Also, it was pointed out in the various information I received, that I might be quite tired at the end of my stay and 'emotionally' exhausted, and that many people need some time to reflect and re-adjust.
I am so glad I abandoned the idea of the additional holiday in SA as it would have been too much.
